Virtual Home Empowerment Workshop Will Share Rental and Homeowner COVID-19 Resources

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is hosting a free virtual workshop on Wednesday, May 6 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. It is designed to provide information and identify resources available during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This program is a collaboration with Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Atlanta Legal Aid, and the City of Atlanta. City of Atlanta Chief Housing Officer Terri Lee will provide welcoming remarks.

Registration is available online and includes the option to hear the workshop by phone. Outlets interested in sharing information with those without internet access, please email empower@atlblp.org.

The workshop will cover:

  • Existing legal protections for tenants in Georgia including right to the eviction process and what to do if you are served with an eviction
  • Added protections under the federal CARES Act including eviction moratorium for tenants and mortgage foreclosure for homeowners
  • Where to look for help including how to know if your landlord or property owner is covered by the CARES Act and

Participants will learn where to find rental assistance as well as how to avoid scams. This event is part of the 2020 Home Empowerment workshop series sponsored by Wells Fargo and Bank of America.
