Located in the Peoplestown neighborhood, D.H. Stanton Park is a shining example of the power of a collaborative community effort. A grassroots campaign resulted in the conversion of a small playground into a robust greenspace adjacent to the soon-to-open interim Southside Trail. It is also the first energy cost-neutral park in the City of Atlanta, with photovoltaic solar panels providing revenue-generating energy and also serving as a shade structure for park visitors.
Play
A dynamic playground provides fun for kids year-round. All ages can enjoy the open spaces and multi-use athletic fields. A youth league diamond is a hub for games during baseball season.
Splash
Kids can cool off and frolic in the splash pad (open daily, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., from May 1 through October 1).
Gather
A large pavilion and nearby shade structure topped with photovoltaic solar panels provide the perfect setting for family picnics, reunions and other festive occasions.
Amenities
The park offers numerous useful amenities, including: benches, public restrooms, nighttime lighting, trash and recycling cans, water fountains and available sources for power.
