MARCH 13, 2026

Below you will find recent updates and photos of each of our Atlanta Beltline projects in design or construction, along with links to get more general information about each project. These projects play a pivotal role in furthering the Atlanta Beltline vision to be the catalyst for making Atlanta a global beacon for equitable, inclusive, and sustainable city life.

Note that some projects have been removed to focus on monthly progress, and project expectations are subject to change due to unforeseen conditions. For the latest updates, visit their project pages.

Reminder: Active construction sites are dangerous, and entering the trail could result in injury. We understand that the community is excited about new trail sections—so are we! Thank you for your patience while we work toward their official openings.

Northeast Trail

  • Northeast Trail Segment 3 and Connector Trails: This federally funded portion of trail includes the mainline trail of the Atlanta Beltline 22-mile loop, called Northeast Trail – Segment 3, as well as connector trails to MARTA Lindbergh Center station, PATH 400, and to the Armour-Ottley district. All real estate has been purchased, and the design and permitting is 100% complete. This is a milestone which ensures that the trail can be built! The $25M RAISE Grant agreement has been executed and GDOT has issued a notice to proceed to ABI to begin construction procurement. The team is planning to post the project for construction procurement in early April. This is a long and complex project, one of the Beltline’s largest, and the expected construction duration will be 36-42 months.

Southside Trail

  • Southside Trail Segments 2+3: This 1.9-mile section runs from west of I-75/85 to Boulevard and was released for construction in May of 2024. While some unexpected environmental cleanup work has delayed the schedule, the trail will be open and accessible during the FIFA World Cup 26™. Barring any unforeseen conditions, the team is currently forecast to have most construction activities completed by the first week of May, with punch list and other landscaping work to continue through early June 2026. Landscaping will continue in the Fall and wrap up in the Spring of 2027. We will continue to keep the community informed on progress.

  • Southside Trail – Segments 4+5: This trail segment runs from Boulevard to Glenwood and is 1.2 miles long. The trail is expected to be substantially complete by the end of March. All of the mainline trail is poured and the critical work remaining includes lights, cameras, guardrails and handrails. The stairs and ramp at the Ormewood access point continue to progress towards completion. The trail is expected to open in April of 2026, with a ribbon cutting scheduled in mid-April.

    Westside Trail

  • Westside Trail – Segment 6: This trail will be 0.6 miles in length and connects the Westside Trail at Lawton Street SW to the Westside Trail at Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard/White St. This section of trail is open but is a sidewalk connection, diverted off the rail corridor with ramp connections to an adjacent sidewalk. This project will construct a trail connection on the rail corridor. The 60% design milestone has been reached, with 90% expected at the end of March. In January, we began trimming landscaping, adding new gravel, and putting up temporary poles in this corridor for lighting and cameras on the interim trail until the permanent trail construction work is mobilized. Construction of a new Beltline trail at this location will not start until after FIFA events scheduled for June 2026 and is tentatively scheduled to be completed by late 2027 or early 2028. Landscaping work will extend into 2028.

Northwest Trail

  • Northwest Trail – Segment 1: This 0.8-mile section runs from the west side of Peachtree Parks Apartments south along Peachtree Creek. Construction is underway across the entire segment, and all trail-related below-grade infrastructure is complete. The apartment side of the trail will be available to Peachtree Park residents this month. Due to unforeseen conditions recently encountered on the project, construction of the bridge at Peachtree Creek and the northern elevated trail connecting to Kinsey Court will push into 2027 or early 2028. Much of the concrete structure for the elevated trail is complete but will be put on hold to allow crane access to the bridge. Elevated trail concrete pours are complete for the footings and piers.

  • Northwest Trail – Segment 2: This 0.7-mile segment starts at the southeast corner of Bobby Jones Golf Course and runs east along Colonial Hills Circle. Design plans are complete, and real estate and easement work are ongoing. The Beltline has signed an agreement with GDOT for the construction of a new tunnel under Peachtree Street for the trail, as a part of a planned replacement of the Peachtree Street bridge at this location. GDOT should begin work on the right-of-way acquisition by April 2026. Portions of this segment will be shovel-ready by March, with all real estate work complete, and will likely go out to bid for construction later this year.

  • Northwest Trail – Segment 3: This 1.2-mile segment runs from Trabert Avenue near Monday Night Brewing’s parking lot to Tanyard Creek, crossing under I-75. The first portion, between Trabert and Northside (Section 3A), is complete and open. Design and permits for the remaining portion (Section 3B) are complete, and real estate work will be finalized in March. Because this complex project has a longer schedule, the project team is working to start construction as soon as possible. The construction solicitation was posted for bid in early February, with bids expected by late March.

  • Northwest Trail – Segment 4: This 0.9-mile segment runs from English and Culpepper to the Monday Night Brewery parking lot at Trabert. Construction is currently underway on Section 4A, and all remaining property purchases are expected to close by March 2026 for Section 4B. We have split Segment 4 into Section A and Section B to provide opportunities for a smaller construction firm to bid on Section B. Construction is underway with a completion date expected in August of 2027. The construction team is working on grading, demolition work, and other site development work.

Beltline Connector Trails + Access Points

  • Oakland City MARTA Station + Murphy Connector Trail: This connector trail is expected to stretch 1.31 miles in total, beginning at the existing Southside Trail access point at Allene Ave SW and splitting into two sections. The 30% design milestone was reached in December. Coordination is ongoing with the Atlanta Department of Transportation on the Allene Intersection, which is a Moving ATL Forward project. Design is expected to run through mid-2026 and construction to be completed in mid-2028. Landscaping work will extend into the winter months of 2028.

Parks

  • Enota Park: An eight-acre park under construction on the west side of Atlanta, Enota park has been broken into three sections: upper, middle, and lower. In the upper parcel, the boardwalk and streambank restoration are complete, kudzu removal is ongoing, and the creek overlook is complete but waiting on handrail installation. In the middle parcel, stormwater and grading work has started and will wrap up in early April for tree placements. In the lower parcel, stormwater piping has been installed, retaining walls are nearly complete, and the exterior shell of the maintenance building is almost finished. The team is working with Trees Atlanta on the planting schedule for the middle and lower parcels and aims to complete the park by the summer of 2026.

  • Shirley C. Franklin Park (formerly Westside Park) – Mountain Bike Trail and Pump Track: The project consists of a 2.25-mile mountain bike trail for various skill levels as well as a pump track facility for teaching the sport of mountain biking. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 22nd for Phase 1 of the park’s construction, which will ultimately create a world-class asphalt pump track facility, jump lines, a bicycle playground, and a skills course designed for riders of all ages and abilities. Construction of Phase 1 work is on schedule, with grading and groundwork ongoing. Fundraising will continue to fund the entire project and all desired elements and phases of work.

Streetscapes

  • Ponce de Leon Ave: This project involves 0.68 miles of streetscape work along Ponce de Leon, as well as a new ramp providing access to the Eastside Trail from Ponce de Leon. The ramp was shut down in mid-January to address issues with the grating and the mesh on the stainless-steel railing, and the contractor is working as quickly as possible to get the ramp back open to the public. Modifications include the replacement of all ramp grating, and the addition of welded tabs to further secure the grating, as directed by the engineer of record.

Trail Lighting and Camera Projects

  • Wylie Street Permanent Cameras: On January 5th, the Beltline began adding cameras to the Southeast Trail at Wylie Street. Because this is a narrow section of the trail, there are possible interim detours to the sidewalk across the street. Work is expected to be complete by May 2026.

Northeast Trail "Gravel Rail Trail" Permanent Lighting and Cameras: Along this trail, landscaping will be trimmed, gravel added, along with permanent lights and cameras along this popular trail. The trail will be fenced off during construction, with the mainline trail used as the 'detour'. Work is expected to be complete by May 2026.

Westside Trail - Camera Replacement: The cameras on the original Westside Trail are being replaced with newer technology. There will be minimal impact on trail users, with appropriate safety barriers in place. Work is expected to be complete by April 2026.

Westside Trail - Segment 6: This project includes the installation of gravel, and the installation of temporary poles in this corridor for lighting and cameras on the interim trail until the permanent trail construction work is mobilized.  The lighting and cameras will be repurposed in the permanent trail construction project.

Other Initiatives

  • Digital Access: At the end of February, work began on our smart corridor pilot site at the Beltline Marketplace at Freedom Parkway. No permanent blocking of the trail will be required, and any active construction equipment in this area be managed with traffic control safety measures to protect the public.
