Atlanta BeltLine design and construction update map - November 2021

Northeast Trail

  • Northeast Trail Segment 1: Design of this segment, between Monroe Drive and Westminster Drive, is about to move from concept design into full design with an anticipated completion of design documents by the end of 2022.

  • Northeast Trail Segment 2: An Invitation to Bid (ITB) was published this month for Phase II of this segment, which will extend the paved trail north to Mayson Street and south to Westminster Drive, bringing it to a total segment length of 1.2 miles. Bids are due in January 2022. The work will include lighting, landscaping and security cameras. This project will complete Segment 2 of the NET in full.

  • Details on each Northeast Trail segment can be found in our design and construction updates section: Segment 1, Segment 2, Segments 3-6.

Eastside Trail

  • Capital Improvements: Crews continue to install the 2-foot wide soft shoulder to both sides of the Eastside Trail between Monroe Drive and Irwin Street. This project should be completed by the end of the year. We appreciate your patience as crews work alongside the trail.

Southside Trail

  • Southside Trail – Segment 1: Lights and cameras will be installed on the access trails leading into the newly opened segment of the Southside Trail by the end of the year. A connecting sidewalk will be added at Manford Road. Trees Atlanta is continuing with plantings in the cooler weather.

  • Southside Trail – Segments 2 – 5: USDOT has awarded a RAISE grant for $16.46 million towards the construction of Segments 2 and 3, between I-75/85 and Boulevard. We are thrilled for this support and recognition of the importance of connecting the Westside and Eastside Trails. Kimley Horn, the design consultant, anticipates finalizing construction documents for Segments 4 and 5 by Q1 of 2022. An ITB for construction will follow. Construction start is contingent upon the completion of three critical projects before proceeding: brownfield remediation and two fiber relocation projects. The construction of Segments 2 and 3, which is tied to federal dollars and the federal construction process is targeting a construction bid date of June 2023.

  • Details on each Southside Trail segment can be found in our design and construction updates section: Segments 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Westside Trail

  • Westside Trail Segment 3: Concrete was recently poured from Marietta Boulevard down to Law Street – via a tunnel under Marietta – and will connect in with the Westside Beltline Connector. Initial plantings along the trail will be installed in December. ABI and PATH Foundation continue to work with CSX and Norfolk Southern to coordinate navigating work on the bridge over the railroad corridors and to Huff Road. Ideally, permits will be in hand in January, but timelines may shift. ABI and PATH are sharing the costs of this 1.2 mile mainline segment of the Atlanta Beltline loop.

  • A public meeting will be held virtually on Monday, December 6 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. Meeting details are here for the update on Westside Trail Segments 3 and 4.

  • Details on each Westside Trail segment can be found in our design and construction updates section: Segment 3 and Segment 4.
