Northeast Trail - Segment 3 and Connector Trails: This federally funded portion of the trail includes the mainline trail of the Atlanta Beltline 22-mile loop, called Northeast Trail – Segment 3, as well as connector trails to MARTA Lindbergh Center station, PATH 400, and to the Armour-Ottley district. The $25M RAISE Grant agreement was executed in January, and the project has been advertised for bid with pricing due by October 2026. The Notice to Proceed is anticipated to be issued to the successful bidder by the end of the year, and construction will commence in early 2027. This is a long and complex project, one of the Beltline’s largest, and the expected construction duration will be approximately 36 months.

Southside Trail - Segment 2 + 3: During final inspections, the engineer identified issues and inconsistencies in the stair layout at Grant Street that did not meet Beltline design and aesthetic standards. To ensure the finished project reflects the quality expected by the community, the stairs have been temporarily closed while the contractor completes the necessary corrections. The corrective work is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of October. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as this work is completed and look forward to reopening the stairs once the improvements are finalized. 

Southside Trail - Segment 6: This project includes a new pedestrian bridge over I-20, running parallel to the existing vehicular bridge at Bill Kennedy Way. The trail section running through Glenwood Park will also be improved to meet Beltline trail standards. The project will be completed in two sections: Section A will include work in the ATLDOT right-of-way south of I-20, and Section B is the GDOT right-of-way from I-20 north to Memorial Drive. Section A has been advertised for bid with pricing due by the end of September 2026. The construction duration for each phase of work is expected to be between 16 and 18 months.

Westside Trail – Segment 6: This trail connects the Westside Trail at Lawton Street SW to the Westside Trail at Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard/White St. This 0.6-mile section of trail is open, but is a sidewalk connection, diverted off the rail corridor with ramp connections to an adjacent sidewalk. This project will construct a trail connection on the rail corridor. Design is 90% complete and expected to wrap up in the next few months and move to construction bidding in late October or early November. Temporary poles were recently installed in this corridor for lighting and cameras on the interim trail until the permanent trail construction work is mobilized. Bidding for construction of a new Beltline trail at this location is expected Fall 2026, with construction likely to start in early 2027. The project is tentatively scheduled to be completed in Spring 2028, with landscaping also extending into 2028.

Northwest Trail – Segment 1: This 0.8-mile section runs from the west side of Peachtree Parks Apartments south along Peachtree Creek. The apartment side of the trail became available to Peachtree Park residents for use in April. Due to a significant engineering issue, the bridge over Peachtree Creek is being removed and rebuilt by the contractor, which has affected the construction timeline. The contractor is expected to start demolition activities again by the end of this year. The design team drawings for a replacement suspension bridge are 60% complete. Three tiers of the elevated trail will also need to be removed and reconstructed to allow for the new bridge to be installed. The current targeted completion date for this work is mid-2028.

Northwest Trail – Segment 2: This 0.7-mile segment starts at the southeast corner of Bobby Jones Golf Course and runs east along Colonial Hills Circle. Design plans are complete, and real estate acquisition and easement work is ongoing. The Beltline has signed an agreement with GDOT for the construction of a new crossing under Peachtree Street for the trail as part of the anticipated replacement of the Peachtree Road bridge. GDOT is actively working on procuring real estate agreements with property owners for the bridge work. Final contractor selection is in process for Section 2A and construction is anticipated to start in late 2026. Section 2C will go out to bid in early fall with construction expected to start by no later than early 2027. The Beltline team is actively working with GDOT and the Buckhead Coalition on the Peachtree bridge work, on section NWT 2B, which is tied to the crossing of the Beltline under Peachtree. This section of trail will be the last to finish of the 22-mile loop. We are completing the contracting and demolition work at Bennett Street and will start by late September in preparation for the GDOT bridge work and laydown areas that are required.

Northwest Trail – Segment 3: This segment runs 1.2 miles from Trabert Avenue near Monday Night Brewing’s parking lot to Tanyard Creek, crossing under I-75. The first portion, between Trabert and Northside (Section 3A), is complete and open. Section 3B is under construction, with a late fall 2028 completion date expected. Preliminary work such as utility locates and clearing and grubbing has started. A ribbon-cutting occurred on September 10th at Atlanta Technology Center.

Northwest Trail – Segment 4: This 0.9-mile segment links English and Culpepper to the Monday Night Brewery parking lot at Trabert. We have split Segment 4 into Section A and Section B to provide opportunities for a smaller construction firm to bid on Section B. The bid drawings for Section B are complete, and we are fully permitted for this segment. We are expecting a small portion of Section A from English/Culpepper to Boyd to be open by October 2026. The structures for the elevated section over the CSX railroad are almost completed, and the steel beams will begin erection in November. This project is expected to be completed by summer 2027.

Oakland City MARTA Station + Murphy Connector Trail: This connector trail is expected to stretch 1.31 miles in total, beginning at the existing Southwest Trail access point at Allene Ave SW and splitting into two sections. Design is underway, with 90% design drawings expected by early fall. Coordination is ongoing with the Atlanta Department of Transportation on the Allene Intersection, which is a Moving ATL Forward project. Design is 90% complete, and permitting has begun. Construction procurement is expected to occur in early Spring of 2027, with an estimated construction timeline of 18 months. Landscaping work will extend into the winter months of 2028 and 2029.

Enota Park: An eight-acre park under construction on the west side of Atlanta, Enota Park has been broken into three sections: upper, middle, and lower. In the upper parcel, kudzu removal is ongoing, handrails are currently being installed, and work continues on the pavilion and site retaining walls. The maintenance building is ready for interior work to begin. In the middle parcel, stair and walkway concrete are expected to be completed by the end of September. In the lower parcel, installation on the handrails, pavilions, walls, building interior work, and grading on the lawn are ongoing. Trees Atlanta began planting trees in April, and the upper and lower parcels are scheduled to be opened by late fall 2026.

Shirley C. Franklin Park (formerly Westside Park) – Mountain Bike Trail and Pump Track: Phase 1 of this project will ultimately create a world-class asphalt pump track facility, jump lines, a bicycle playground, hiking trails, and a skills course designed for riders of all ages and abilities. Construction on this phase is underway and on schedule, with bike park and pump track elements in progress. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. Fundraising is ongoing to fund the entire project and all desired elements and phases of work, with Phase 2 consisting of a 2.25-mile mountain bike trail for various skill levels and hiking trails. The design for Phase 2 of the Bike Park is currently under contract, with design work expected to start this summer.

Boulevard Crossing Park: Design work is significantly complete for an expansion of the existing park from 5 acres to 25 acres, including a direct access path to the Southside Trail.  ABI is releasing the design to be finalized, including value engineering and permitting.  In addition, a contractor will be procured to provide market pricing. The Beltline team is planning to release this project for construction after the budget is confirmed and design and permitting are finalized.
