Below you will find recent updates and photos of each of our Atlanta Beltline projects in design or construction, along with links to get more general information about each project. These projects play a pivotal role in furthering the Atlanta Beltline vision to be the catalyst for making Atlanta a global beacon for equitable, inclusive, and sustainable city life.
Note that some projects have been removed to focus on monthly progress, and project expectations are subject to change due to unforeseen conditions. For the latest updates, visit their project pages.
Reminder: Active construction sites are dangerous, and entering the trail or park construction sites could result in serious injury. We understand that the community is excited about new trail sections—so are we! Operating heavy equipment, incomplete railings, security cameras and lighting not yet operational, and contaminated soils are some of the many reasons why job sites are hazardous. Thank you for your patience while we work toward their official openings.
Current Projects
1. Northeast Trail - Segment 3 and Connector Trails
Northeast Trail Segment 3 and Connector Trails:This federally funded portion of trail includes the mainline trail of the Atlanta Beltline 22-mile loop, called Northeast Trail – Segment 3, as well as connector trails to MARTA Lindbergh Center station, PATH 400, and to the Armour-Ottley district. The $25MRAISE Grant agreementwas executed in January and GDOT issued a notice to proceed to the Beltline. The team issued aninvitation to bidfor construction procurement in April. This is a long and complex project, one of the Beltline’s largest, and the expected construction duration will be 42 months.

Southside Trail Segments 2+3:This 1.9-mile section runs from west of I-75/85 to Boulevard and was released for construction in May of 2024. While some unexpected environmental cleanup work has delayed the schedule, the trail will be open and accessible during the FIFA World Cup 26™. All of the trail concrete is poured except for tie in work at Milton and Boulevard crossings. Railings, lights, cameras and crosswalk signals are on schedule for May completion, with punch list and other landscaping work to continue through early June 2026. Landscaping will continue in the Fall and wrap up in the Spring of 2027. We will continue to keep the community informed on progress.
3. Southside Trail - Segments 4 + 5
Southside Trail – Segments 4+5: This trail segment runs from Boulevard to Glenwood and is 1.2 miles long. Railing installation is underway at United and expected to be complete by mid-May. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on April 16. The stairs and ramp at Mercer / Ormewood opened later in April. Railing installation is underway at United and expected to be complete by mid-May. Punchlist work, clean up and landscaping continue along the open trail. Due to ongoing connection work between Southside Trail - Segments 2+3 and the new Southeast Trail, there are portions near Boulevard still unpaved. Please follow signs in the area and use the protected area to cross and use adjacent Boulevard Ave.
4. Westside Trail

Westside Trail – Segment 6:This trail connects the Westside Trail at Lawton Street SW to the Westside Trail at Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard/White St. This 0.6-mile section of trail is open, but is a sidewalk connection, diverted off the rail corridor with ramp connections to an adjacent sidewalk. This project will construct a trail connection on the rail corridor. The 90% design milestone has been reached. In January, we began trimming landscaping, adding new gravel, and putting up temporary poles in this corridor for lighting and cameras on the interim trail until the permanent trail construction work is mobilized. Construction of a new Beltline trail at this location will likely start in the fall of this year, after construction permitting and solicitation of a contractor is complete. The project is tentatively scheduled to be completed in early 2028. Landscaping work will extend into 2028.
5. Northwest Trail - Segment 1

Northwest Trail – Segment 1:This 0.8-mile section runs from the west side of Peachtree Parks Apartments south along Peachtree Creek. The apartment side of the trail became available to Peachtree Park residents for use in April. Due to bridge engineering issues, construction of the bridge at Peachtree Creek and the completion of the northern elevated trail connecting to Kinsey Court will push into early 2028. All infrastructure associated with the trail is now complete. Elevated trail concrete pours are complete for the footings and piers.
6. Northwest Trail - Segment 2
Northwest Trail – Segment 2:This 0.7-mile segment starts at the southeast corner of Bobby Jones Golf Course and runs east along Colonial Hills Circle. Design plans are complete, and real estate acquisition and easement work is ongoing. The Beltline has signed an agreement with GDOT for the construction of a new tunnel passing under Peachtree Street for the trail. GDOT is actively working on procuring agreements with the property owners. Portions of this segment are shovel-ready, with all real estate work complete, and will likely go out to bid for construction later this year.
7. Northwest Trail - Segment 3
0102
02
Northwest Trail – Segment 3:This segment runs 1.2-miles from Trabert Avenue near Monday Night Brewing’s parking lot to Tanyard Creek, crossing under I-75. The first portion, between Trabert and Northside (Section 3A), is complete and open. Design and permits for the remaining portion (Section 3B) are complete. Because this complex project has a longer schedule, the project team is working to start construction as soon as possible. The construction solicitation was posted for bid in early February, with bids received in March, and a construction agreement pending execution.
8. Northwest Trail - Segment 4

Northwest Trail – Segment 4:This 0.9-mile segment links English and Culpepper to the Monday Night Brewery parking lot at Trabert. We have split Segment 4 into Section A and Section B to provide opportunities for a smaller construction firm to bid on Section B. Construction on Section 4A is underway, with a completion date expected in August of 2027. The construction team is working on grading, demolition work, bridge fabrication, and other site development work.
9. Beltline Connector Trails + Access Points
Oakland City MARTA Station + Murphy Connector Trail:This connector trail is expected to stretch 1.31 miles in total, beginning at the existing Southside Trail access point at Allene Ave SW and splitting into two sections. Design and analysis is underway, with the 60% set under review. Coordination is ongoing with the Atlanta Department of Transportation on the Allene Intersection, which is a Moving ATL Forward project. A site walk was held in April and real estate coordination is in progress. Design is expected to run through mid-2026 and construction to be completed in mid-2028. Landscaping work will extend into the winter months of 2028.
10. Streetscapes
0102
02
Ponce de Leon Ave:This project involves 0.68 miles of streetscape work along Ponce de Leon, as well as a new ramp providing access to the Eastside Trail from Ponce de Leon. The ramp was shut down to address damaged grate panels that need replacing and guardrail mesh that needs to be adjusted. Following final engineering inspections, the ramp reopened in early May.
11. Enota Park

Shirley C. Franklin Park (formerly Westside Park) – Mountain Bike Trail and Pump Track:Phase 1 of this project will ultimately create a world-class asphalt pump track facility, jump lines, a bicycle playground, hiking trails, and a skills course designed for riders of all ages and abilities. Construction on this phaseis underwayand on schedule, with storm and mass grading, bike park elements and finer grading in progress. Fundraising is ongoing to fund the entire project and all desired elements and phases of work, with Phase 2 consisting of a 2.25-mile mountain bike trail for various skill levels. The Beltline leadership team has approved moving forward with the design for Phase II work using TAD dollars.
Trail Lighting and Camera Projects
Wylie Street Permanent Cameras: On January 5th, the Beltline began adding cameras to the Southeast Trail at Wylie Street. Because this is a narrow section of the trail, there are possible interim detours to the sidewalk across the street. Work is expected to be complete by May 2026.
Northeast Trail "Gravel Rail Trail" Permanent Lighting and Cameras: Along this popular trail, landscaping will be trimmed, gravel added, and permanent lights and cameras will be installed. The trail will be fenced off during construction, with the mainline trail used as the 'detour'. Work is expected to be complete by May 2026.

Westside Trail - Camera Replacement: The cameras on the original Westside Trail are being replaced with newer technology. There will be minimal impact on trail users, with appropriate safety barriers in place. Work is expected to be complete by May 2026.
Westside Trail - Segment 6: This project includes the installation of gravel and temporary poles in this corridor for lighting and cameras on the interim trail until the permanent trail construction work is mobilized. The lighting and cameras will be repurposed in the permanent trail construction project. Work is expected to be complete by May 2026.
Signage and Wayfinding
Design is in progress on a comprehensive signage and wayfinding update for the Beltline 22-mile loop. This project includes new regulatory, wayfinding, identification, and specialty signage, including signage for art, donor recognition, and the Beltline Arboretum. Etiquette messaging banners have been installed along the trail in many locations. Crews have started installing branded crosswalks around the 22-mile loop to improve the visibility of the crossings. The Westminster and Kirkwood crossings are complete, with plans to install Joseph E Boone, Mayson Turner, and Law Street at a minimum prior to FIFA. Work is in progress on sign foundations, with the signs to be installed upon delivery. After FIFA, signage and crosswalk installation will continue on all completed trails and will be installed as future trails are delivered.
