Southside Trail
Southside Trail Segments 2+3: This project, which extends 1.9 miles from west of I-75/85 to Boulevard, was released for construction in May of 2024. Large storm installations west of Milton and environmental clean-up were completed in October. Work in progress includes wall construction at Pryor Road Bridge and Grant Terrace and Skylark Apartments near Boulevard, and rough grading at Segment 2 near Pittsburgh Yards. While unexpected environmental remediation work has affected the schedule, the trail will be open and accessible during FIFA World Cup 26™, with some construction activities potentially extending beyond World Cup. We will continue to keep the community updated on trail progress.

The contractor will begin grading for the pond and constructing the last of the walls to tie into the United Avenue sidewalk, which will continue through early 2026. Handrail installation for the Ormewood Avenue pedestrian bridge will begin this month, with the ramp and stair work also scheduled for early November. Duct bank installation and grading for the upcoming trail pour between Ormewood Avenue and Glenwood Avenue are expected to be complete by mid-November. Trail pour is expected to be complete in early December. Underground utility challenges at United Ave have pushed out the expected completion date of the United Avenue ramp. Work is now expected to continue through the end of the year with the trail opening in January. The United Avenue bridge has an anticipated opening date of Q1 2026.

Southside Trail - Segment 6 (Bill Kennedy Way at I-20): In the design phase, this project includes improving the trail section that runs through Glenwood Park and installing a new pedestrian bridge over I-20 parallel to the existing vehicular bridge at Bill Kennedy Way. The project will be completed in two sections: Section A will include work in the ATLDOT right-of-way south of I-20 and Section B is the GDOT right of way from I-20 north to Memorial Drive. The drawings for the project are 60% complete, with 90% drawings expected by November for Section A, and January for Section B. Construction will not start until after World Cup events scheduled for June 2026 are complete. The expected construction duration for each phase of work is expected to be between 16-18 months.
Westside Trail
Westside Trail – Segment 6: Design for this 0.6 mile segment that connects the Westside Trail at Lawton Street SW to the Westside Trail at Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard/White St via former rail corridor has reached 30 % design. Design is expected to be completed by Spring 2026 Construction will not start until after FIFA events scheduled for June 2026. Construction is tentatively scheduled to be completed by late 2027 or early 2028.

Northwest Trail
Northwest Trail – Segment 1: Now fully under construction, this section of trail runs 0.8 miles in length, beginning at the western edge of Peachtree Parks Apartments and running south along Peachtree Creek. We are working on the last retaining wall, and all underground storm is now complete. The trail on the apartment side of the creek is now 50% poured. Elevated trail concrete pours are in progress for the footings and piers.
Due to unforeseen conditions recently encountered on the project, the construction completion date may push into Fall 2026.

The design drawings are complete. Real estate purchases and easement work are in progress, and we are making progress towards closing on most of the properties. GDOT has started work on the right-of-way acquisition for the new bridge crossing at Peachtree Road. We are planning to put portions of this project out to bid for construction in 2026.
Northwest Trail – Segment 3: This 1.2-mile section of trail begins at Trabert Avenue near Monday Night Brewing’s parking lot and ends after crossing under I-75 at Tanyard Creek, The first section of the trail (Section 3A) between Trabert and Northside opened earlier this fall and we are in the final stages of permitting with, real estate expected to be finalized this year, for Section 3B. We are planning to put Section 3B out for bid to hire the construction team within the next 6 months.
Northwest Trail – Segment 4: Beginning at English and Culpepper, this 0.9-mile-long trail and ends at the parking lot of Monday Night Brewery at Trabert. The bid drawings are complete, and we are fully permitted for this segment. We are working on remaining real estate transactions west of Howell Mill with real estate east of Howell Mill now ready for construction. We have split Segment 4 into Section A and Section B to provide opportunities for a smaller construction firm to bid on Section B. We are expecting to start construction of Section 4A by the end of the year. A groundbreaking was held on October 30, 2025.
Northwest Trail – Segment 5: This trail segment begins at the intersection of Marietta Blvd and Huff Rd, traveling to Ellsworth Industrial and English Street for a total of 0.7 miles. Construction started in May of 2024. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on October 30, 2025 and the trail is open for use. Final punchlist work is underway on sections of Segment 5.. Please observe all posted advisories as follow on work continues on the trail.

Parks
Enota Park: Enota Park is an eight-acre park that is under construction on the west side of Atlanta. The site has been fully cleared with the completion of tree removal work and demolition of the Lucille building. The park has been broken into three sections: upper, middle, and lower. Upper Parcel: boardwalk construction is almost complete, streambank restoration is wrapping up, kudzu removal in progress, and overlook of stream is at 50%. Middle section: stormwater and grading work is ongoing. Lower section: all stormwater piping is installed, grading work ongoing, walls being poured. The team is working to complete the section of the park along Lucille by summer 2026.

Franklin Park (formerly Westside Park) – Mountain Bike Trail and Pump Track: This Westside Park project consists of a 2.25-mile mountain bike trail for various skill levels as well as a pump track facility for teaching the sport of mountain biking. The contract for this work is executed, with the Notice to Proceed for Phase 1 expected in early November. Permitting is in progress, with revised comments submitted to the city. Fundraising will continue to complete the entire project and all desired elements and phases of work.

Streetscapes
Ponce de Leon Ave: 0.68 miles of streetscape work along Ponce de Leon as well as a new ramp providing access to the Eastside Trail from Ponce de Leon are nearing completion.
Completed work includes sidewalk construction, light pole installation, mast arm and traffic signal installation, bike lane resurfacing and extension, striping, landscaping, construction of columns and installation of beams and steel grating for the elevated ramp structure. Handrail installation on all walls and completed work on the ramp has begun and the punchlist will continue through early November. Delays are due to handrail material delivery issues, and crew shortages for installation of the railing.
