Small business owners who rent their space will not directly pay the SSD tax. Property owners will see an additional line item on their annual tax bill for the SSD assessment. What does this mean for me as a renter?

Renters will not directly pay the SSD tax. Multi-family property owners will see an additional line item on their annual tax bill for the SSD. The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership also works with multiple partners to offer Home Empowerment Workshops that connect renters with resources to help them stay in their homes, such as education on eviction relief. Completing the Atlanta BeltLine trail corridor will stimulate more housing production. Due to inclusionary zoning instituted by the City of Atlanta around the Atlanta BeltLine, developers must build affordable units in all new multi-family rental developments.

What does this mean for me as the owner of a single-family home, townhouse, or condo?

Single family homes, townhomes, and condos are not part of the BeltLine Special Service District, even if they are located within the Atlanta BeltLine Planning Area. If you find that your property taxes have risen over time due to an increase in your home’s value and have become unaffordable, please reach out to us for more information about our Legacy Resident Retention Program. This program assists homeowners with existing property tax bills for 10 years. It operates as a grant and does not require participants to pay back any funds received.
