- Parks & Trails

It’s official: the dog days of summer are here! We know that finding things to do around the city while the weather is nice can get hard — and sometimes quite expensive. So, we did the work for you.
Here are some fun, free things to do around the corridor this summer.
Explore Art Along the Beltline
One of the Southeast’s largest outdoor temporary public art exhibitions, the Beltline has been a staple for Atlanta in more ways than one. Discover the unique, breathtaking, and meaningful art displayed around the entire corridor! With over 70 different pieces currently on display to explore, including murals and sculptures, an amazing art experience is waiting for you on the Beltline. Want to check out the trail’s newest piece? Find out more about Camisha Butler’s Forever I Love Atlanta here.
Join a Free Fitness Class
Want to get out and be more active? Join Atlanta’s largest free fitness program! With Beltline-hosted classes like yoga, Zumba, cardio tennis, and bootcamp style workouts, you can try any workout you’d like to see what best suits you and your fitness goals. Bring a friend or make new friends there. There are even “bring the whole family” classes, which give you and the kids something to do while school is out.
Bike the Trail
Grab your bike and head for the trail! Biking the corridor is a great way to view everything the Beltline has to offer while also getting your cardio in. You can explore the art like we suggested above, or you can take in the great views of each part of the trail. If you don’t own a bike, you can rent from a local bike shop or from a bikeshare provider, so you don’t miss out on the fun. For a cooler experience, bike at sunrise or sunset—which also offers the bonus of stunning skyline views. Guided tours are also available through the Beltline team.
Browse Local Small Businesses on the Corridor
Explore the countless small businesses that call the Beltline home. Browsing and conversing with proud and passionate entrepreneurs about their story, their businesses, and their purpose is an enriching experience that costs nothing. While shopping does cost money, learning about Atlanta’s creative soul is priceless and inspiring!
Walk Your Dog
The trail is the perfect place for you and your dog to take in nature and explore the corridor. The Beltline is known for its wide-paved paths that allow dogs to exercise. On your route, you’ll run into many parks for playtime for your four-legged best friend! As this is a very popular activity, your dog will also get the chance to socialize with other furry friends.
Join Run Clubs and Walking Groups
Connect with your fellow ATLiens through running and walking groups! All skill levels and paces can find a home at one of the many clubs that utilize the Beltline, including the Beltline’s very own run club in partnership with Atlanta Track Club. Enjoy great views, keep up with your fitness goals, and make new friends who have similar interests. A win-win!
People Watch at Popular Spots
Avid people-watcher? There is no better place than to watch the world go by in Atlanta than on the Beltline. Find a bench at a popular spot like Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market or Lee + White for world-class people watching. You’ll be a witness to the never-ending parade of diverse crowds that are drawn to the Beltline daily, especially during the good weather of summer.
Discover Tiny Doors ATL
Atlanta’s most whimsical outdoor scavenger hunt is free — and has several locations on the Beltline! While you are hunting for over 30 whimsical miniature door installations, you will find the Beltline is host to several of them located throughout the trail and surrounding neighborhoods. Tiny Doors ATL is an interactive art project that has been bringing wonder to public spaces since 2014. Finding them is an ATL badge of honor, and all you have to do is get on the Beltline to start!
Explore Hidden Parks and Green Spaces
Want to go on an adventure? Venture off the main trail to discover numerous parks like Piedmont Park and Shirley Clarke Franklin Park, offering shaded seating, playground equipment and quiet spots for reading or meditation. Bring your favorite book, a picnic blanket, your headphones, and sunglasses for a great time lounging in the parks and green spaces.
