Sharing the Trail This Summer: Beltline Trail Etiquette
More energy and activity means even more reasons to practice good trail etiquette along the corridor.

With summer around the corner and the excitement of FIFA World Cup™ matches on the way, the Atlanta Beltline is gearing up for one of our busiest seasons yet. More people on the corridor means more energy, connection, and even more reasons to love spending time on the trail. This also means it’s the perfect time for a friendly reminder about how we can keep the Beltline safe and enjoyable for everyone. By following trail etiquette, everyone from skaters to business owners can have a memorable experience. Here’s how you can do your part:
Stay Alert
Always be aware of your surroundings to avoid accidents, especially on popular stretches of the trail.
Keep your ears open and stay attentive to sounds around you.
Always keep children within arm’s reach.
Keep the Trails Clean
Please pick up your litter—let’s keep the trails beautiful!
Clean up after your pets to maintain a healthy environment.
Share the Trail
Keep right to allow faster traffic to pass safely.
Walk only in twos, side-by-side, so the trail remains accessible for others.
Step off the trail if you need to stop or talk—don’t block the way!
Leash Your Pets
Keep pets leashed and close by to ensure safety for all trail users.
Ride Safely
Slow down, especially in busy areas.
Pass others on the left.
Call out “left” or ring your bell when passing to alert others.
With more foot traffic comes more eyes on the trail, making the Beltline an exciting place for small businesses to connect with the community. While selling products directly on the trail without approval isn’t permitted, we encourage entrepreneurs to visit our vending webpage and explore the Business Readiness Toolkit to learn more about how to legally and successfully participate in our upcoming activations.
As walkers, joggers, bikers, and visitors alike, we all play a part in making the Beltline the place we know and love. For more guidelines and city ordinances, visit our trail etiquette page.
