The Atlanta Beltline has launched its 2026 free fitness season with an expanded class schedule featuring hundreds of free classes and new resources connecting Atlantans to fitness programming along the trail.

As more of the mainline trail is completed and trail use continues to grow, the Free Fitness Program will expand in 2026 along with the stories of transformation it inspires. From Atlantans who started by walking just a few yards at a time to participants who have gone on to complete races, the Beltline is meeting people wherever they are on their wellness journey.

The program is the largest of its kind in Atlanta, and across the spring, summer and fall season segments, offers everything from Adult Swim lessons to Zumba, across the corridor and in adjacent parks, and classes are added throughout the season. No membership or experience required — just register for each class at beltline.org/fitness.

The expansion of the program comes as trail visits reached 2.5 million in 2025 alone — a signal that Atlantans are increasingly turning to the Beltline as a place to build lasting, healthy habits and active lifestyles.

“We’re so proud of the Free Fitness Program,” said Rob Brawner, executive director of Atlanta Beltline Partnership. “It helps activate the Beltline and make it accessible to all people, no matter how fit they are and wherever they are on their wellness journey. And it’s made possible through generous donations of our sponsors and funders.”

Atlanta's Largest Free Fitness and Bike Program Returns for a New Season

The Beltline’s Free Fitness Program offers classes in yoga, dance fitness, strength training and Pilates, classes for seniors, toddlers and people who want to learn how to skate. Classes are held outdoors on the Beltline and in parks along the corridor. Participants can find the full class schedule at beltline.org.

The program is made possible by supporters, including the Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund — an associated-led fund of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation — Delta, Northside Hospital, Ponce City Market, Global Payments, and Kaiser Permanente; grant funding from the Katherine John Murphy Foundation; and partners including the City of Atlanta, ATL Parks & Rec, Smart Studio, Azul Arc, American Heart Association, and Keen Water. To help keep programs like this free and accessible to all Atlantans, consider becoming a supporter at beltline.org/donate.

Getting Kids Moving

The Atlanta Beltline is committed to getting the next generation active early. Youth fitness classes on the Beltline offer kids opportunities to build healthy habits in a fun, welcoming environment — from family-friendly playdates for children ages 2–12 to a Learn 2 Ride Bike Club designed to help young riders and their caregivers gain confidence on two wheels.

The Beltline is also a proud supporter of Kilometer Kids, Atlanta Track Club's free youth running program for students in grades K–5. The program combines goal-setting, healthy habit formation, and community building through running — values that align closely with the Beltline's own mission to make active, healthy living accessible to all Atlantans.

More Ways to Move on the Beltline

The programming extends well beyond fitness classes. Walk with a Doc, held the last Saturday of each month, pairs a brief physician-led talk on a predetermined health topic with a leisurely walk along the trail — giving participants access to healthcare professionals in a setting that feels nothing like a waiting room. The program runs across three Beltline locations: Rodney Cook Sr. Park in Historic Vine City on the Westside Trail with the Alliance for the Activation of Cook Park, Lee + White in the Historic West End on the Southwest Trail with Morehouse School of Medicine, and the Beltline Marketplace under the John Lewis Bridge on the Eastside Trail with Piedmont Healthcare.

Each week, in partnership with the Atlanta Track Club, the Atlanta Beltline hosts a Run Club that rotates across multiple Beltline segments to bring together runners, walkers, those on wheels, and four-legged friends to enjoy 2- and 4-mile group runs that accommodate different paces, mobility levels, and ages. This fun and engaging program is hosted every Thursday year-round and is free to participate. Upcoming run locations can be found at beltline.org/runclub

On two wheels, Big Tigger's Beltline BikeFest brings V-103 Morning Show host and Atlanta Hawks in-arena DJ Big Tigger back to the trail for a community ride that doubles as a block party — live music, a vendor market, free health checks, and the Big Tigger Foundation's annual giveaway of bikes and helmets to local students.

For those who want to explore at their own pace, guided bike tours of the Northwest and Southwest trails run on select Saturdays throughout the Spring and Summer months, weaving through Beltline art, history and neighborhoods with trained local guides. Registration fees apply; visit beltline.org to reserve your spot.

Race the Loop: A Four-Race Series Spanning All Four Sides of Atlanta

In addition to the free fitness program, the Atlanta Beltline is offering a paid race series for those looking to go further. With the addition of the Southside Beltline 8K/3K, the 2026 Atlanta Beltline Race Series — produced in partnership with the Atlanta Track Club — takes runners through all four sides of the completed Beltline trail:

  • February 7 — Westside Beltline 10K/3K (Completed – Sold Out)

  • April 18 — Northside Beltline 5K/3K (Sold Out)

  • August 1 — Southside Beltline 8K/3K (NEW – Registration Open)

  • December 5 — Eastside Beltline 12K/3K (Registration Open)

All races are open to runners, walkers, strollers and dogs, and all serve as AJC Peachtree Road Race qualifiers. More than 27,000 people have participated in the series since it launched in 2011. Finishers who complete all four races to Race The Loop earn a new series completion medal. Registration fees apply. Visit beltline.org/races to register.
