A picture is worth a thousand words—and on the Beltline, there are never enough words to capture the amazing scenery, art, and places on every single part of the trail! With so many unique and fun spots to experience, it could be difficult to narrow down some of the best places to stop and take a selfie or picture, but don’t worry! The Beltline has you covered with our top 10 best selfie/photo spots in the corridor.
Forward, Warrior!! along Wylie Street (Southeast Trail)
Starting off on the Southeast Trail, we have the Forward, Warrior!! Mural Project along Wylie Street, a huge piece of collective art that has been worked on for over a decade. This Cabbagetown mural series is a beautiful representation of what makes Atlanta, Atlanta. Therefore, it makes it a great place for a photo!
The individual pieces of art blend to make a vibrant collective, which puts it on this list for the best selfie/photo spots on the Beltline.
2. Krog Street Tunnel (Southeast Trail)
As stated above, the Southeast Trail is no stranger to unique art, and the Krog Street Tunnel is a testament to that. Krog Street Tunnel not only connects Cabbagetown to Inman Park but also connects Atlanta to artistic expression as one of the city’s top free paint spaces. The art quite literally speaks for itself as it represents culture, identity, community, and individuality. Legendary Atlanta artists have used this tunnel in their music videos as the tunnel gives them an unmistakable Atlanta authenticity. This is a no-brainer for selfies and photos!
3. Under the Edgewood Ave. Bridge (Eastside Trail)
The Eastside Trail is one of the most visited portions of the Beltline. Its experiences perfectly curate the Eastside of Atlanta with its art, activities, restaurants, and most importantly—its views! The Edgewood Avenue Bridge on the Eastside Trail is the perfect place to stop, relax, observe the trail and of course, take a photo. The bridge is adorned with a beautiful mural of eyes, Somos Boricanos, by ARRRTADDICT which “watch” over the path as onlookers pass by.
4. Historic Fourth Ward Park Amphitheater (Eastside Trail)
Amazing views of Historic Fourth Ward Park, Ponce City Market, and quick access to the Eastside Trail are just some of the many reasons ATLiens love this spot, but like the other great places on this list, Historic Fourth Ward Park Amphitheater is an amazing spot for photos! Centered by a serene pond which surrounds a water fountain, the amphitheater sells itself as the perfect backdrop for a selfie or photo. Not only that, but you can also check out Atlanta’s iconic Historic Old Fourth Ward Park while you’re at it.
5. Terminus II (Southwest Trail)
As you know, the Beltline is no stranger to stunning art pieces created by local artists, and this spot is no exception. Terminus II by Megan Mosholder is a beautiful art installation that arches over the Southwest Trail and was installed in 2020. Designed to emulate Atlanta’s transportation past, present, and future, this art piece makes for unique and striking photos and speaks to the connectivity of the city through the Beltline.
6. The ConNectar (Southwest Trail)
While you’re on the Southwest Trail, be sure to check out The ConNectar by Kaylin Broussard & Chris Bartlett. This picturesque art installation stretches 40 feet across the trail and shows off vibrantly colored butterflies that create shadows when the light strikes them. It was made so that all those who pass remember to appreciate the pollinators and their importance within our ecosystem. This piece is not only meaningful, but also an opportunity for photos that speak for themselves!
7. North Avenue Bridge (Eastside Trail)
Atlanta’s iconic North Avenue has seen it all: From historic battles to the completion of the tallest skyscraper in the Southeastern United States. And from North Avenue Bridge, you can see it all too! North Avenue Bridge on the Eastside Trail crosses an iconic street with the skyline in the background, which makes it one of the best places in the city to take a photo! Connecting Old Fourth Ward to Poncey-Highlands, North Avenue bridge connects two vibrant neighborhoods! 8. Lucile Avenue Tunnel (Westside Trail)
The Westside Trail is great for many different reasons. — and the Lucile Avenue Tunnel is definitely one of them! Next time you’re on the Westside Trail, visit The Highball Artist mural by Hadley Breckenridge, which is showcased on the tunnel arch. The mural is a colorful and unique piece depicting train time and movement through simplistic, bol,d and striking colors. Hard to miss, this tunnel will make any photo as bold as the mural it bears!
9. Transformation Tunnel (Westside Trail)
While you’re on the Westside Trail, you’ll come across another tunnel with beautiful, meaningful art that represents an important part of Atlanta’s community. Transformation Tunnel is a product of five LGBTQIA+ artists who actively listened to their community and created something powerful and important to represent it. Meant to disrupt the negative stigma of HIV, this art piece shines light on the happy and fulfilling lives people with a positive status have lived and will continue to live. This makes photos impactful and meaningful, as these great artists intended!
10. Along Tanyard Creek (Northside Trail)
Connecting with breathtaking nature is a given every time you step onto the Northside Trail, and Tanyard Creek is a part of that experience. Tanyard Creek Park’s tall trees, intricately designed bridges, and serene creek in which it gets its namesake make this spot an easy place to stop, take it all in, and take a photo! Capturing its beauty is easy considering you’ll be surrounded by it—with anything and everything in your view being a perfect photo.
