Celebration at Skyline Park: A Slice of Summer 2018!

Skyline Park Atlanta is the essence of “old-timey” fun in the heart of Atlanta. Perched high above the hustle and bustle of Ponce de Leon Ave. atop Ponce City Market, the amusement park has become one of the most popular destinations in the city for those seeking delicious food, refreshments, and good times.

A Slice of Summer – the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership’s (ABP) arrival of summer – was held this past Sunday afternoon at this incredible rooftop venue. From 1:00 – 4:00 pm a  crowd of close to 300 enjoyed spectacular views of the Eastside Trail, mini-golf, games and rides, tunes from DJ Salah Ananse, and delicious food and beverages.

Attendees were also treated to an amazing pop-up opera performance from The Atlanta Opera – selections from their current performance of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street – featuring soprano Vanessa Becerra (top image below) and baritone Joseph Lattanzi. This performance is part of the Belting on the BeltLine initiative which will bring even more pop-up opera performances to locations along the Atlanta BeltLine later this year.

Next Up? The Atlanta BeltLine Westside 5k/8k

ABP’s next event is the Westside 5k/8k on Saturday, July 14. This is always one of our most popular Run.Walk.Go! race series events and this year should be no exception. Our 2018 race starts and ends at the Lee + White development and we’re thrilled to be able to use the new Westside Trail extensively for this year’s course. The 8k option is new for 2018 and we’ve also added an afterparty at Monday Night Garage for your post-race enjoyment. Register here by June 14 to save $5 off the registration price. We hope to see many of you on the Westside in July!

We want to thank everyone for coming to this year’s event and we hope to see you all at A Slice of Summer 2019! Scroll down for more images from our event.
