Old Fourth Ward Fall Fest Returns to Eastside Trail for Third Year September 8 & 9

Free, Two-Day Festival at Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark Celebrates the Spirit of the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade

Old Fourth Ward Fall Fest returns to Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark for the third consecutive year on Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9, 2017. The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and Rival Entertainment are teaming up again to present this free, two-day festival that embraces the spirit and culture of the Atlanta BeltLine Lantern Parade, which debuted in 2010 and drew more than 70,000 participants last year.

The festival features live local music, food trucks, a DIY lantern making area, a kids’ play area, Whole Paws Pet Zone, an artist and business market and more. The festival’s prime location along the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail makes it the ideal place to view the Lantern Parade, which steps off at 8:15 pm on Saturday, September 9 from the southern end of the Eastside Trail at Irwin St.

Music Lineup

Two days of live local music gets started on Friday at 5:30 pm with Sydney Rhame. At 7:00 pm Trash Panda performs, and at 8:45 pm the evening’s headliner, Family and Friends, takes the stage. Saturday’s music lineup begins at 1:00 pm with Breeze Kings. The Pussywillows follows at 2:30 pm, Electric Darling takes over at 4:00 pm, I.R.E. performs at 5:30 pm, and headliner Walden wraps things up starting at 7:15 pm.

Food and Beverages

Guests will have access to Atlanta’s favorite food trucks, free samples of Bai’s newest enhanced water flavors, free Fontis water hydration stations and a full bar featuring Strongbow Cider, Old Fourth Distillery cocktails, beer and soft drinks. Take in the day’s college football action at a covered sports bar featuring four viewing screens and plenty of shade from the sun. New for this year: a ticketed Friday night craft beer event, featuring more than 75 beers made by local brewers.

Make a Lantern for the Parade

Guests can immerse themselves in the spirit of the Lantern Parade by creating their own glowing lantern at the festival. Purchase a DIY Lantern Kit in advance for $20. DIY kits include 16″ round lantern with support stick, LED lantern light with batteries and access to the festival’s DIY decorating tent with all the arts and crafts supplies needed to create a glowing parade lantern. Appropriate for all ages. Keep in mind, all Lantern Parade participants must have a lantern.

Whole Paws Pet Zone

Not only is the entire Old Fourth Ward Fall Fest pet-friendly (dogs must be on leash at all times), but pets can also stay  hydrated and entertained at The Whole Paws Pet Zone, sponsored by Whole Foods Market. Please note pets are NOT permitted in the Lantern Parade.

Parking

Attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle, run or take public transportation to Old Fourth Ward Fall Fest. For those driving to the event, please use private lots or public parking in areas that have access to the Eastside Trail. Event parking is not permitted on Willoughby Way or Ashley Ave.

Lantern Parade Co-Presenting Sponsor WellStar Atlanta Medical Center offers public parking in a location convenient to festival and parade access on Saturday, September 9. A short 10-minute walk from AMC Garage B to Historic Fourth Ward Park will be marked with directional signs.
