A new sculpture is joining the Atlanta BeltLine’s continuing art exhibition. Artist Tim Frank is creating the sculpture, and excavation for the site preparation is now underway. The installation will be on the Eastside Trail at the Angier Springs access point, across from the Gateway.

The sculpture is funded by a grant from the Schrager Family Foundation. The artist was selected through an open Request for Proposals call, with a requirement that the proposed sculpture be monumental in scale and visible from 100 yards away. The competition saw a total of 47 submissions from local, national, and international artists. From those, a handful of finalists were selected and Tim Frank’s proposal scored the highest.

The area of the Eastside Trail immediately adjacent to the sculpture site will be closed for no more than two days, starting Wednesday, January 18, while the excavation equipment occupies the site. Users have clearance to go around the site by stepping off the trail to the west.
