Where Atlanta Comes Together. Learn more
Detour routes will be established for connection between Eastside Trail and Historic Fourth Ward Park.
WHAT: Modifications to the Gateway Trail to/from Historic Fourth Ward Park will be made by the developers of North & Line residential project. As a courtesy to Atlanta BeltLine Trail users, Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. is notifying the public that the Gateway Trail will be closed during these modifications.
WHEN: On or about Monday, August 22 for approximately one week.
WHERE: The Gateway Trail connecting the Eastside Trail with Historic Fourth Ward Park (near the Angier Springs access point to the Eastside Trail.)
ADVISORY: During the closure period, detour routes will be established to help guide traffic between the park and trail:
- Accessing Historic Fourth Ward Park from the Eastside Trail: From the Gateway Trail access, walk north along the Eastside Trail to Ponce City Market. After crossing the North Avenue Bridge, at the public plaza, there is a set of stairs or elevator that will take pedestrians and bicyclists down to North Avenue. At North Avenue, travel west to the crosswalk at the Ponce City Market drive entrance. There is a pedestrian activated signal so you can cross the street safely into Historic Fourth Ward Park.
- Accessing the Eastside Trail from Historic Fourth Ward Park: Travel along North Angier Road or through the Park to the northernmost part of the park. Use the crosswalk across from the Ponce City Market drive entrance, to cross North Avenue. Travel east along North Avenue to the stairs and elevator adjacent to the parking deck. At the top, you can access the Eastside Trail.
PROJECT: Modifications to the Gateway Trail to/from Historic Fourth Ward Park will be made by the developers of North & Line residential project. These modifications are meant to integrate access from the North & Line development to the Gateway Trail and will comply with the federal American with Disabilities Act. After the one week closure period, the Gateway Trail will reopen to Atlanta BeltLine users.
