The Atlanta BeltLine moves into its next phase for the Eastside Trail with a call for bids for construction of the Eastside Trail extension.

The extension will run according to the following:
- South from Irwin Street to DeKalb Avenue, passing under Edgewood Avenue
- Down DeKalb Avenue through Krog Street Tunnel onto Wylie Street
- Along Wylie Street into the old railroad corridor at Flat Shoals Avenue
- The extension will temporarily end at Kirkwood Avenue

Construction will include the concrete multi-use trail, site lighting, preparation of soils for follow-on planting by Trees Atlanta, erosion and sedimentation control, fencing, demolition of an existing bridge and construction of its replacement, and storm-water management improvements outlined in the Permitted Plans.

Other renovations will be made to areas within and surrounding the extension. Krog Street tunnel will see improvements to the pavement, along with new railing and LED lights. Wylie Street will receive speed-humps and a fresh overlay for the shared bicycle lane outlines.
The deadline for proposals is October 13, 2015. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will take place on August 27th for all interested firms. The time frame for completion of the extension is 18 months. More information about bids and the process can be found here.
