Construction of the Westside Trail, the Atlanta BeltLine’s next trail to be built in the old railroad corridor, is moving right along.

The pipe above is part of the green infrastructure design for the trail. It serves to hold water during a large storm event and slow the stress on the existing stormwater system.

Backfilling has begun for materials that were excavated from the project site in preparation for construction. Initial work has also begun on the abutments for the bridge over Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr., which was removed and will be replaced in construction of the trail.

When construction is complete, the Westside Trail will be a 3-mile multi-use corridor connecting Adair Park to Washington Park. Construction is expected to take two years and will include 14 access points and preparation for future transit. You can see more construction photos in our gallery.
