The Atlanta BeltLine is so much more than just trails, and our parks are true gems along the city’s “emerald necklace.” We hope our “Park of the Month” series will help you find greenspaces on the Atlanta BeltLine that you haven’t discovered yet, and maybe even show you something new about your favorite parks! This month, we are featuring Perkerson Park as our Park of the Month, and one of Atlanta’s best kept secrets!

If you’ve never visited this 50-acre greenspace in southwest Atlanta, you’re in for a treat. Located in the Capitol View neighborhood, the park boasts amenities like tennis courts, basketballs courts, a playground, ball fields, a pavilion, and a disc golf course. Perkerson is one of four Atlanta BeltLine parks that also features a splashpad that operates between May 1 and October 1. The splashpad incorporates commissioned art by Maria Artemis.

One of the best reasons to make Perkerson Park your new playground is its proximity to the Westside Trail. Now under construction, the Westside Trail is a 3-mile corridor that will connect Washington Park with Adair Park at University Avenue, just a few blocks north of Perkerson. The corridor will feature a 14-foot wide multi-use trail, 14 points of entry (11 of which will be ADA-accessible) with ramp and stair systems, greenway, and preservation for future transit. The Westside Trail connects four schools and provides southwest Atlanta access to many acres of greenspace.

For the duration of our Park of the Month series, we will be sharing your photos on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter when you tag @atlantabeltline! Show us your Perkerson Park photos until the end of June!
