Wins for the Atlanta BeltLine in Creative Loafing’s Best of ATL

Creative Loafing has released their annual Best of Atlanta issue, and the Atlanta BeltLine has come up with some wins again! Critics picked the Southwest Connector Spur Trail and the Lionel Hampton Trail as the Best Place to Ride Your Bike. For those of you that have not visited this scenic area of southwest Atlanta, the Southwest Connector Spur Trail is a 1-mile trail that connects to the Lionel Hampton Trail and winds through the Beecher Hills neighborhood up to Beecher Hills Elementary. This completed portion, with funding from the PATH Foundation, is the first phase of what will ultimately be a 4.5-mile spur trail that is part of the Atlanta BeltLine’s 33-mile trail network.

Readers chimed in to choose the Atlanta BeltLine as the Best Free Thing to Do in Atlanta and the Best Jogging Path, but were divided from the judges on Best Place to Ride Your Bike – they chose the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail.

As a bonus, Creative Loafing chose Faun and a Pan Flute’s album as the Best New Album. The band performed with Danielle Brutto for a large crowd at the Reynoldstown Stage for Art on the Atlanta BeltLine on September 21. Check out some photos from their appearance here.

Last year, Creative Loafing named the Westside Trail the “Best Urban Hike” for its “rustic splendor.” Come out and see that splendor while it’s still rustic and while there is art on the trail. On November 12 of this year, construction will begin on the next major multi-use Atlanta BeltLine trail in this corridor, and much of it will be closed to the public.
