Atlanta BeltLine Running Series Announces Active Lifestyle Competition Winner –
The Atlanta BeltLine is rewarding participants in the Active Lifestyle Competition for their fitness accomplishments!
ATLANTA (Feb. 18, 2014) The first winner of the annual Atlanta BeltLine Active Lifestyle Competition was announced last night at the Atlanta BeltLine Run Club at Park Tavern. Morningside resident Julie Pryor blew past the competition by earning 2,330 points.
Winning the Atlanta Beltline Active Lifestyle Competition was no small feat, however. “I’ve struggled with staying consistent, and not falling into traps and weeks of inactivity,” explains Julie. “The Atlanta BeltLine Run Club was a great way to have another source of accountability, and the Active Lifestyle Competition was a way for me to say earn points to go running – just one more way of setting a goal and maybe win a fun prize. For me, the Competition helped get me out there and run, and kept me committed to my goal.” Since beginning her fitness journey several years ago, Julie has lost over 100 pounds. In addition to a healthier lifestyle, Julie was awarded with a Weekend Experience Package from Serenbe worth more than $800.
Today, Julie continues to try new activities and forms of fitness, including tennis, in order to enjoy overall health in her mind, body and spirit – to be a well-rounded, healthy and fit person.
Over the course of the year, nearly 70 participants earned a total of 70,000 points collectively each time they participated in Atlanta BeltLine races and run clubs, as well as partner events. The Atlanta BeltLine Running Series Community logged over 10,600 miles in 2013 alone. Points were redeemable for prizes offered from businesses around the Atlanta BeltLine – and were tallied to determine which participant earned the most points and the honor of “Most Active on the Atlanta BeltLine.”
“The Atlanta BeltLine Running Series has received tremendous response since we launched in 2011,” said Atlanta BeltLine Program Director Rob Brawner. “We kicked off the Atlanta BeltLine Active Lifestyle Competition in 2013 as yet another way to engage runners and walkers, while rewarding them for their fitness accomplishments.” Enrollment in the Competition is free, and those who choose to participate in all four 2014 Atlanta BeltLine races receive a 20% discount off of registration.
In 2014, the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership has added additional opportunities to earn points through its Free Fitness on the Atlanta BeltLine series – featuring aerobics, FitWit, How to Ride a Bike for Adults and Youth, Sunrise/Sunset Hikes, Trail Yoga, Mountain Biking, Soccer Street Cups, and Play Day on the Atlanta BeltLine.
