Today is Georgia Gives Day, a statewide effort to encourage people to support their favorite charities and nonprofits. If you choose to support the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, AGL Resources will double your donation to support the Partnership’s 2012 Annual Fund! The “Double Your Donation” gift matching campaign has raised $25,000 to date.
“We are so excited to share this special opportunity for our valued Partnership supporters. For the first time, our contributors will have their donations matched, dollar for dollar, through AGL Resources ‘Double Your Donation’ campaign,” said Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Executive Director Valarie Wilson. “We are so grateful to AGL Resources for its generosity, and for the support of our hundreds of Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Members.”
AGL Resources has pledged a 1:1 match for all new and increased gifts to the Partnership up to $50,000.This means that each contribution will have double the impact. For example, a gift of $125 will have a $250 impact, and donors will receive recognition and Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Member benefits at the $250 level. All gifts made through Georgia Gives Day or member.beltline.org – whether today or until the full match is raised – will receive enhanced benefits.
The Partnership cultivates broad-based support for the Atlanta BeltLine to thrive through political, economic and social cycles. Only a public-private partnership can generate sufficient resources and align the necessary leadership to reverse decades of sprawl beyond Atlanta’s urban core and uneven economic development within it. The Partnership is the Atlanta BeltLine’s link to the private sector:
- Securing seed capital to leverage public dollars and accelerate the development of new parks and trails;
- Cultivating passionate, informed supporters who ensure Atlanta’s elected officials keep the Atlanta BeltLine a top priority;
- Engaging volunteers who give their time and effort to help make the Atlanta BeltLine happen; and
- Developing initiatives that will ensure neighborhoods around the Atlanta BeltLine remain affordable, that people live healthier lives, and that economic prosperity is shared.
The Partnership plays a critical role in ensuring the Atlanta BeltLine is implemented by leveraging community support, private investment and public resources. The Partnership has demonstrated – in the significant capital it has raised, the critical mass of passionate supporters it has cultivated and the programs it has created to address social challenges – that it is the private sector’s trusted agent, accomplishing this through an extensive portfolio of programs that advance the Atlanta BeltLine and engage the community.
