The Atlanta Beltline is opening a new segment of the Southeast Trail, previously known as Southside Trail — Segments 4 and 5 — a 1.2-mile multi-use trail running from Boulevard to Glenwood Avenue. The opening expands connectivity to the Glenwood Park, Grant Park, Ormewood Park and Boulevard Heights neighborhoods and brings the total Beltline trail delivered to date to 14.8 miles.

WHY: The completion of the Southeast Trail expands safe, accessible connectivity to four Southside neighborhoods and creates safer routes to school for students at Parkside Elementary and Maynard Jackson High School, only the second Atlanta public high school located directly on the Beltline. The trail was designed by Kimley-Horn and constructed by Reeves Young. By June, the completion of the remaining Southside Trail will bring the total continuous paved Beltline trail to 17.9 miles, including 16.3 miles of mainline trail and 1.6 miles of the Westside Connector Trail.

Limited street parking is available on Glenwood Avenue, Bill Kennedy Way and Chester Avenue SE. Parking is also available at Kroger in the spaces furthest from the storefront. Comfortable, sturdy shoes are recommended.
