Today, the Atlanta Beltline announced Joe Iacobucci as Vice President of Transit Innovation, bringing more than two decades of experience to lead the development and implementation of equitable, forward-thinking transit solutions to the Beltline corridor. In this role, Iacobucci will support Atlanta Beltline’s long-term vision for a connected, inclusive, and multimodal transportation network. He will lead the design and delivery of transit for one of the nation’s largest and most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs.
Iacobucci’s experience spans a wide range of transit systems, including heavy rail, bus networks, and emerging mobility technologies, with a strong emphasis on equity-driven planning and innovation. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at the Chicago Transit Authority, including Senior Manager of Planning and Policy. There, he led rail and bus modernization initiatives, delivered Chicago’s first bus rapid transit service, and co-managed the agency’s Transit-Oriented Development program, integrating transportation investments with neighborhood-scale development.
Prior to joining Atlanta Beltline, Iacobucci founded and led the New Mobility Practice at TYLin International, delivering high-profile projects globally, including work for Atlanta Beltline and cities such as Los Angeles, Seattle, Toronto, Chicago, and Riyadh. “With the appointment of Joe, we are helping ensure a more connected Atlanta is possible. His deep experience and national leadership in mobility will help us continue advancing our transit vision,” said Clyde Higgs, President & CEO of Atlanta Beltline, Inc. “This work will help ensure growth and opportunity are shared equitably, reinforcing Atlanta’s commitment to inclusive development and mobility for all.”
Atlanta Beltline remains committed to delivering 22 miles of pedestrian-friendly transit adjacent to the Beltline that connects people to where they want to go. Iacobucci’s leadership will help shape transit solutions that respond to the community’s needs while evaluating relevant transit modes and strengthening multimodal connections to MARTA bus and rail.
Through this work, the Beltline continues evaluating all transit modes that are designed to connect neighborhoods and expand access to opportunity supporting healthy, connected communities and making Atlanta one of the best places in the country to raise a child.
Iacobucci earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Bowling Green State University and holds a Master of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago.
