Atlanta Beltline, Inc. is hosting U.S. Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy Christopher Coes, Senator Jon Ossoff, and Congresswoman Nikema Williams for a visit and press conference highlighting the Trails to Transit: Reconnecting Atlanta Communities project. The event includes the presentation of a $25 million Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant to the City of Atlanta and Atlanta Beltline, Inc. for 2.2 miles of multi-use trail. It is the largest federal grant in Beltline history.

The new trail will mark the first time the Atlanta Beltline trail will connect to a MARTA transit station (at Lindbergh Center), fulfilling the vision to connect with the region’s larger transportation network. It also will knit together the regional trail network, affordable housing, and job centers across a complex series of transportation barriers and build a safer and more equitable transportation system by closing a key gap in the regional trail network. The event is part of a series of RAISE visits in Georgia.
