Washington Park

Washington Park is a neighborhood full of parks and trails; a quintessential Atlanta BeltLine gem. The Ashby MARTA station is located in this neighborhood and provides an important transit option for residents. Washington Park (the park) was designated as the city’s first recreational park for African-Americans in 1919, and still serves the neighborhood with many amenities, including tennis courts and a natatorium.

Trails

Westside Connector

This future multi-use trail will become a critical link in the region’s trail network with connections between job centers, other development activities on the westside of Atlanta, Maddox Park, the Bankhead MARTA station, and the future Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry.

Westside Trail Extension

The Westside Trail Extension is NOT YET OPEN. Informally known as “the Kudzu Line,” this stretch will extend the existing Westside Trail and connect to the Westside Connector, currently in development by the PATH Foundation.

Westside Trail

The 3-mile multi-use Westside Trail stitches together some of Atlanta’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods – running from Washington Park at Lena Street south to University Avenue.
