Housing Court Assistance Center
Housed in the Office of the Magistrate Clerk (eviction court), the Housing Court Assistance Center (HCAC) is a walk-in free legal clinic for Atlanta tenants whose landlords are taking them to court. Tenants can get immediate advice about the eviction process. Participants consult with an attorney who explains the procedures and tenant's legal options, and provides appropriate referrals. Program sponsors are Georgia State University College of Law's Center for Access to Justice, Lawyers for Equal Justice, and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
