The Beltline’s Core Programmatic Goals
Guided by principles of equitable and sustainable development, the Atlanta Beltline is delivering transformative public infrastructure that enhances mobility, fosters culture, and improves connections to opportunity. The Atlanta Beltline is committed to building a more socially and economically resilient Atlanta with partner organizations and host communities through job creation, inclusive transportation systems, affordable housing, and public spaces for all. The goals outlined below are the backbone of our work.
33 Miles of Trails
Connecting intown Atlanta with 22 miles of multi-use, urban trails in the Beltline corridor, 11 miles of connector trails, and tying into existing trails and bike paths locally and regionally.
1,300 Acres of Greenspace
Creating a greener tomorrow with hundreds of acres of new greenspace, parks, and an arboretum in a loop encircling the city.
22 Miles of Transit
Addressing Atlanta’s growing population and traffic with 22 miles of pedestrian-friendly light rail transit. Improving pedestrian access to and from the Beltline with 46 miles of streetscapes.
5,600 Affordable Homes
Partnering to create and preserve affordable housing so all can live near the Beltline.
$10 Billion in Economic Development
Spurring $10 billion in economic vitality through private redevelopment around the loop.
50,000 Permanent Jobs
Striving to create opportunities and bring 50,000 permanent jobs to the Beltline Planning Area. Engaging with the business community to provide resources and create opportunities for local hiring.
Public Art
Showcasing art and culture from Atlanta and around the world with the largest outdoor temporary public art exhibition in the south.
