Southside Trail-Segments 4 and 5

Spanning 1.2 miles from Boulevard to Glenwood Avenue, the project involves a 14-foot-wide multi-use path with 3-foot soft shoulders on each side, with retaining walls, vertical connections to adjoining streets, storm drainage, replaced bridges, and more infrastructure.

These segments are closed for construction. Trespassing on active construction sites is prohibited.

Project Status

All columns for the ramp at United are complete, as well as the Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining walls and backfill. Supports are in place to enable completion of the ramp decking by the end of October. The underground stormwater detention chambers have been installed on the north side of Ormewood, and an additional bridge support (bent) for the new Ormewood Ave pedestrian bridge has been constructed. The contractor will be working on the MSE walls for the ramp and stair structures over the next several weeks. The first trail pour between Boulevard and United was completed in June. Duct bank has been installed, and the section between United and Ormewood is complete. Underground utility challenges at United Ave have pushed out the expected completion date, the contractor will begin grading for the pond and constructing the last of the walls to tie into the United Avenue sidewalk, which will continue through early 2026. Work is now expected to continue through the end of the year with the trail opening in January. The United Avenue bridge has an anticipated opening date of Q1 2026.
