Ponce Streetscape Project

The Ponce de Leon Avenue streetscaping project aims to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety along a 0.68-mile stretch from Boulevard/Monroe Drive to Freedom Parkway. Improvements include new sidewalks, lighting, an Eastside Trail access ramp, extended bike lanes, and raised center medians in certain areas. Intersections from Boulevard to Ponce De Leon Place will get new traffic signals and utility relocation.

Rolling lane closures will occur as needed throughout the project timeline.

Project Status

The sidewalk reconstruction, landscaping, and light pole installation are complete throughout the project. All mast arms have been installed and the contractor is currently working with ATLDOT and Georgia Power to switch over all traffic signal operations to the new signal heads and remove the old strain pole assemblies.

Bike lane improvements are complete and pavement striping is expected to be completed by the end of June.

The contractor will begin construction on the Beltline access ramp as soon as GDOT approves the wall and materials submittals, currently under review.
