Northwest Trail - Segment 2

This section of trail begins at the southeast corner of Bobby Jones Golf Course and travels 0.7 miles east along Colonial Hills Circle. It will connect with the existing Northside Trail and like most of the Northwest Trail, will be built outside of existing railroad corridor.

A rendering of a future Beltline segment that runs along a street.

The full Northwest Trail will run for 4.3 miles from the terminus of the Westside Trail to the beginning of the Northeast Trail.

Project Status

The design drawings are complete. Real estate purchases and easement work are in progress. GDOT has started work on the right-of-way acquisition for the new bridge crossing at Peachtree Road. We have split the segment into three sections. Section A is from Bobby Jones to the northeast end of the Georgia Power Company substation. Section B is the Peachtree Road crossing, and Section C is from Peachtree to Peachtree Park Apartments. Section B includes the Peachtree Road crossing which requires a new GDOT bridge. The Beltline has signed an agreement with GDOT for the crossing under Peachtree Street for the trail. GDOT should begin work on the right-of-way acquisition by February 2026. We are planning to put portions of this project out to bid for construction in 2026.
