Land Acquisition & Development

356 University Avenue

Empowering Equitable Development

356 University Avenue is a 13.7-acre site adjacent to Pittsburgh Yards® and directly on the Southside Trail. The property is owned by Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI) and aims to pave the way for the development of new affordable housing, affordable commercial opportunities, and job creation.

About the Property

The space at 356 University Avenue was acquired by ABI in 2023 from AECF Atlanta Realty LLC, a subsidiary of the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

The land is currently vacant and sits next to The Nia Building™, a 61,000-square-foot former trucking terminal at Pittsburgh Yards® fitted with  leasable workspaces, conference spaces, an amphitheater, apartment units, and a shared kitchen and market.

Project Status
  • Since June 2024, the Atlanta Beltline has worked closely with community members, including stakeholder and business advisory committees, and planning, civil engineering, and market study consultants to develop a plan for the site, which maximizes its potential - grounded by the Beltline's goals for equitable development, community desires, and current conditions.

  • An RFP was released in late August for a development partner to assist in bringing this vision to life. 356 University presents an opportunity to build upon the Pittsburgh Yards® vision and create thoughtful, equitable development opportunities. The mission and vision for the overall site focus on community engagement, entrepreneurship, wealth-building opportunities, sustainable design principles, and the cultivation of local benefits.
