Home Empowerment Workshop: How to Buy a Home

April 18 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Update: Due to COVID-19, this workshop will not be hosted in person. We are making arrangements to do the workshop “virtually”. If you’ve already registered for the workshop, you will receive instructions on how to access the virtual workshop. Workshop materials will be available online prior to the workshop. Also, please note the new workshop time: 10:00 – 11:30 am.

With the recent opening of the Westside and Southside trails, people are more interested than ever in buying a home along the Atlanta BeltLine. For many – especially first-time home buyers – the process of finding and purchasing the right home can seem complex, even overwhelming. The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, Atlanta Land Trust (ALT), and SUMMECH are partnering to offer a free workshop designed to make sure that individuals looking to purchase a home along the Atlanta BeltLine have access to the programs and services that can help ensure that the home they find is right for them.

Participants will receive an overview of the Atlanta Land Trust and its partners who are working to create permanently affordable homes in Atlanta using the community land trust (CLT) model.

This free workshop will share with attendees:

  • What is a community land trust (CLT)?
  • How is CLT ownership different from traditional homeownership?
  • How do CLTs assist non-traditional or low-income buyers?
  • How can I buy an affordable home on the Atlanta Beltline?

The workshop is free, but please register here so we know how many people to expect.

The 2020 Home Empowerment workshop series is sponsored by Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
