Historic Preservation as Advocacy: A Pop-Up on the BeltLine

Nedra Deadwyler is Art on the Atlanta BeltLine’s Scholar-in-Residence for the 2020-2021 exhibition season.
This event is designed to build knowledge of the everyday person about the steps they can take to cherish their personal and family history for future generations.
- You will talk to individuals to learn more about
- Ways to document personal and family history
- How to repair and reduce opportunities for damage to heirlooms
- Learn how to identity an heirloom that has monetary value
- How to identify the southern architecture common in neighborhoods
- How to advocate for saving neighborhood history
The event will host a 1:1 opportunity to talk to preservation specialists. There will be a display of historic images used in Historic Preservation as Activism. And learn more about ways to identify and advocate for important community spaces. And a short self-guided tour of a few neighborhood treasures.
