About the Atlanta Beltline Partnership

As one of the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs in the United States, the Atlanta Beltline (www.Beltline.org) is the catalyst for making Atlanta a global beacon for equitable, inclusive, and sustainable city life. It is improving the quality of life for all Atlantans through investments in parks, trails, transit, streetscapes, affordable housing, public art, economic development, job creation, and environmental cleanup.

The Atlanta Beltline Partnership is the 501c3 nonprofit organization formed in 2005 to support the Atlanta Beltline project. The Partnership enables implementation of the Atlanta Beltline by raising private and philanthropic funding, engages the public through programming and events, and empowers residents in neighborhoods along the Atlanta Beltline to live, work, and thrive in their communities.

In delivering its mission, the Partnership collaborates with Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI), the entity tasked with implementing the Atlanta Beltline vision. ABI oversees all aspects of the project's planning, development, and execution, working closely with the City of Atlanta and partner organizations.

The Atlanta Beltline Partnership plays the critical role of raising philanthropic capital to support the implementation of the Atlanta Beltline, having raised more than $220 million to date. The Partnership also manages a robust portfolio of programs that maintain strong, broad-based civic and community support for the Atlanta Beltline and enhance the ability of the investments in Atlanta Beltline infrastructure to yield positive health, economic, and other social outcomes for residents in Atlanta Beltline neighborhoods. Led by a small core staff, the Partnership accomplishes its objectives via myriad partners, a network of specialized contractors, and hundreds of active volunteers.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Atlanta Beltline Partnership (ABP) is seeking an engaged and organized Volunteer Program Coordinator. This role will play a central role in growing, supporting, and activating the Atlanta Beltline Partnership’s community stewardship and volunteer efforts. This role will manage and systematize the volunteer lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to engagement and retention—and ensures a seamless, mission-aligned experience across all volunteer programs.

You’ll serve as the key liaison to our extensive network of volunteers, coordinating logistics, ensuring brand and program consistency, and building a pipeline for deeper community ownership through service. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role that connects people to purpose while increasing the Beltline’s impact and reach.

Specific responsibilities include:

Volunteer Operations:

  • Lead day-to-day execution of all volunteer programs, including Adopt the Beltline, Trail Cleanups, Events and Tabling Activations, and Lead Volunteers.

  • Manage scheduling, logistics, communication, and event coordination for one-time and recurring volunteer activities.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, ensuring a positive and impactful experience.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Working with key contractors and internal operations staff, build and manage systems to recruit, screen, onboard, and retain a high-quality volunteer base.

  • Develop onboarding materials, training guides, and orientation sessions that reflect ABP’s values and expectations.

  • Support pathways for volunteers to grow into leadership and ambassador roles.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Marketing and Development teams to align volunteer efforts with campaigns, sponsorships, and storytelling goals. This role will partner with other teams at ABP and ABI on a case-by-case basis, as well.

  • Partner with external groups (corporations, schools, nonprofits) to activate group volunteer experiences.

Systems & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and hours using Salesforce or other CRM platforms.

  • Track metrics such as participation, hours contributed, and return volunteer rates for impact reporting.

  • Analyze trends and feedback to continuously improve the volunteer experience.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit, event management, community engagement, or related field.

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in volunteer coordination, program management, or community development.

Technical Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, project management, and organizational skills.

  • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) and scheduling tools.

  • Passion for public space, civic engagement, and inviting community building.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.

  • Valid driver’s license/ability to navigate around the city for programs and events.

  • Be willing/able to work occasional evenings, holidays, and weekends for programs and events.
