The RDA Access Point, located at 1385 Ralph David Abernathy, provides a new entry point to the Westside Trail with ramp and stair access, protected crossing across RDA, and bicycle lanes. Pedestrians will also benefit from widened sidewalks and newly planted trees. The Westside Trail, buzzing with life and art, is a place for recreation and connection. The access point increases safety and makes the Westside Trail more accessible for those who frequent this segment of the Beltline.
The Atlanta Beltline is committed to uplifting the Westside through the completion of projects like these, including the future Westside Trail – Segment 4. Currently, the section of Westside Trail - Segment 4 from Lena Street to Mayson Turner is open and ready for exploration thanks to its ahead-of-schedule completion. When finished, the full Westside Trail - Segment 4 will be 1.3-miles in length and begin at the current Westside Trail terminus near Lena Street and Washington Park and extend north to Law Street, where the trail ties into the Westside Beltline Connector and the completed Westside Trail - Segment 3.
The completion of the Ralph David Abernathy Streetscape and Access Point is an exciting victory, leading to the final realization of the 22-mile Atlanta Beltline loop. The Westside Trail enhances mobility, connects intown neighborhoods, and improves economic opportunity and sustainability for the community.
