Summer may be coming to an end, but the opportunity to take a vacation and see different sights is a year-round treat with these Atlanta-based destinations that will take you to another country, or even better yet, another world.

Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum

While the library will immerse you in the historical archive, the greenery surrounding the facility – from the Japanese Garden to the Koi Pond – can provide some quiet escape from fast-paced urban life.

Storza Woods at the Atlanta Botanical Garden

Hanging lianas and curving trails make for a jungle-like environment (fitting for a city already nestled in the forest). Whether for hiking or capturing engagement photos, the tropical rainforest backdrop will take you miles away from Atlanta concrete.

Dr Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party

Forgotten umbrellas hang from the ceiling in this antique community tea house outside Grant Park. Just gather a group of friends and enjoy some warm beverages amidst the cozy leather couches and vintage stacked bookshelves reminiscent of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland.

Zoo Atlanta

Whether interacting with the 1,000 animals from around the globe or taking a savanna tour, Zoo Atlanta transports its visitors across the diverse natural landscapes of the world.

Market East

Operating as a wing in Ponce City Market, this eatery serves a variety of East Asian dishes – ranging from Vietnamese pho to bingsu (Korean shaved ice). The décor, incorporating bamboo stalls and lanterns, mixed with the comfort food approach of each restaurant, will draw you into the breadth of Asia’s cuisine and have you coming back for more.

Illuminarium Atlanta

Reach for the stars at one of Atlanta’s most immersive venues, using high-tech animations to transport visitors from the legendary age of rock n’ roll to the mysteries of space. While you’re here, mark your calendars for the Immersive Yoga in Space event, taking workouts to a new level.

Hammonds House Museum

Nestled outside the consortium of Atlanta Universities, the Hammonds House Museum takes its visitors on an artistic, historical, and cultural journey of Black creativity from the 19th century onwards. The historical home decked out in a bright assortment of red and green also offers workshops and porch parties, inviting community members to connect and be creative together.

After a long day of exploration, finish off with a relaxing stroll on the Beltline and enjoy the escape of walking home under the shade of canopy trees.
