The City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation is expanding access to public restrooms across the city, including on the Beltline, through a new partnership with Throne Labs

Throne Labs is a smart technology company that provides solar-powered, self-contained public restrooms to urban areas that require no water or sewage connections. As part of this initiative, four of the ten smart restroom units in Atlanta have been installed along the Beltline Trail.

The Beltline is proud to partner with the City on these efforts as Atlanta prepares to welcome residents and visitors from across the world during major upcoming events, including the FIFA World CupTM. Operations, maintenance, and branding for the units will be managed by the City of Atlanta and Throne Labs.

Locations, Features & Access

The four Throne Labs restrooms along the Beltline can be found by Piedmont Park, Lowery — Bedford Pine, Allene Avenue, and Historic Ward Skatepark. They are fully ADA accessible and include flushing toilets, running water sinks, baby changing stations, and complimentary menstrual products.

There are four ways to unlock a Throne restroom:

  • Scan the QR posted on the unit

  • Send a text message

  • Use the Throne app

  • Tap a phoneless access card

Once unlocked, the restroom door will open automatically for use.

Wi-Fi for International Visitors

For international guests visiting Atlanta who may not have cellular service, restroom locations along the Beltline were selected in part for their proximity to public Wi-Fi and connected areas. Visitors can use nearby Wi-Fi access to create a Throne account and unlock the units.

Atlanta Beltline Ambassadors will also carry access cards.

Supporting a Better Trail Experience

By supporting these new locations along the corridor, the Beltline is helping make the trail more comfortable and accessible for everyone spending time in one of Atlanta’s most beloved public gathering spaces.
