How to Explore Atlanta without a Car
Ways to get around Atlanta—and enjoy the journey—without getting behind the wheel

Exploring Atlanta without a car is easier than you might think, thanks to the nearly 17 miles of Beltline trail connecting neighborhoods, parks, businesses, and transit. Whether you’re commuting to work, meeting friends for dinner, running an errand, or discovering a new part of the city, the Beltline offers a convenient and enjoyable way to get where you’re going.
The simplest way to explore is on foot. Walking the Beltline lets you discover colorful murals, grants easy access to local restaurants and cafés, browse shops, or relax in one of the many parks along the corridor. With so much to see along the trail, you’ll never have the same journey twice.
If you’re looking to cover more ground, biking is one of the fastest ways to move between neighborhoods. No bike? No problem! Stop by one of the many bike shops along the corridor to rent a ride for the day. You can also lace up your roller skates, rollerblades, or hop on your skateboard and enjoy the Beltline's wide, paved multi-use paths. For a convenient ride between destinations, grab a Lime scooter for a zippier experience.
Over in the Southwest area, ATL Spoke—a free autonomous shuttle service operated in partnership with Atlanta Beltline, MARTA, and Beep—improves connections between West End MARTA Station and the Lee + White commercial district. Running 7 days a week with service every 12-15 minutes, this innovative option offers another convenient connection to the Southwest trail.
Getting to the Beltline without driving is just as easy. MARTA's rail stations and bus routes are a great option for residents and visitors to access the trail. Just a 5–10-minute scooter ride away from the Eastside trail, the Atlanta Streetcar also offers another convenient way to travel between Downtown attractions before or after your Beltline adventure.
One of the best parts about exploring car-free is the flexibility. Whether the Beltline is part of your daily routine or your path to somewhere new, it can help you move between neighborhoods, connect to transit, and experience more of Atlanta along the way. As the Beltline continues building out the 22-mile trail loop and advancing transit options along and connecting to the corridor, getting around Atlanta without a car will become even easier.
