We are proud to announce the opening of Segment 3A of the Northwest Trail. Bringing us one step closer to a fully connected Atlanta and highlighting what is possible when public infrastructure and local businesses grow together.
The entire segment is 1.2 miles long and begins at Trabert Avenue near Monday Night Brewing and ends after crossing under I-75 at Tanyard Creek. Allowing trail users to pass under I-75, Segment 3 was split into 2 sections: Segment 3A (0.2 miles) and Segment 3B (1.0 miles). Real estate work of 3B is expected to be completed by fall 2025 with the construction schedule established later this year.
With the opening of Segment 3A, 12.8 miles of the total main line has been delivered along with 10.3 miles of connector trails.
Jay Suever, the project manager, explains the process of the new section of trail.
“Segment 3A of the Northwest Trail is the first completed section of the entire Northwest arc. We collaborated with the landowner and their consultants to weave the trail through existing buildings, ensuring it worked in harmony with the property especially the new Monday Night Brewing outdoor space which is a truly symbiotic use.” Suever goes on to say, “This section is a great example of how a public and private entity can join to create something magical. It also creates an important new connection between the Loring Heights neighborhood and the Howell Mill district via Trabert Avenue, a route that could previously only be done by car”.
At the Beltline, we’re committed to supporting small businesses in ways that uplifts neighborhoods, strengthen communities, and move our city forward. This segment of the trial was possible because of the collaboration between small business owners. When businesses like Monday Night Brewing choose to expand along the Beltline, it’s a clear sign that the economic ecosystem being cultivated around the corridor is working as intended.
“We opened our second Atlanta location, Monday Night Garage, on the Southwest Trail in the Lee & White District. We’ve seen firsthand the growth, development, and energy that comes from being right on the trail, and we’re thrilled to tap into that momentum at our original location,” said Joel Iverson, co-founder and Chief Project Officer of Monday Night Garage. “To me, the Beltline represents the best of Atlanta as we turn over a new chapter as a city. I love how it connects neighborhoods that were once separated and brings people and businesses together for something bigger than any one of us.”
The Beltline is all about bringing people together, connecting neighborhoods, making space for movement and fun, and supporting the small businesses that keep Atlanta vibrant. This new stretch of trail is a great example of what’s possible when local business owners, property owners, and the Beltline team work together showcasing the Atlanta group project.
