This week, Atlanta Beltline, Inc. hosted U.S. Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy Christopher Coes, Senator Jon Ossoff, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, and many transportation leaders to celebrate USDOT awarding a $25 million Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant to the City of Atlanta and Atlanta l, Inc.

Awarded to the Atlanta Beltline’s Trails to Transit: Reconnecting Atlanta Communities project, the RAISE grant is a significant investment in the City’s infrastructure and bolsters sustainability and equity in transportation. This funding will support construction of 2.2-miles of multi-use trail, which will provide regional connectivity between the Atlanta Beltline and trails including PATH 400, Confluence Trail, and Peachtree Creek Greenway.

The project also creates a transit nexus with MARTA buses and trains at Lindbergh Center station. This achievement will help fulfill the longstanding vision of integrating the Beltline with the region’s larger transportation network, creating seamless and accessible transit options for residents and visitors alike. Additionally, the trail will play a vital role in connecting affordable housing and job centers across various transportation barriers.

The Atlanta Beltline’s Trails to Transit: Reconnecting Atlanta Communities project is an exciting leap forward in the city’s journey towards sustainable, equitable, and connected urban living. With the generous support of the $25 million RAISE grant, the Atlanta Beltline is in a strong position to transform transportation accessibility, create greater economic opportunities, and foster a stronger sense of community throughout the City of Atlanta.

Those interested can learn and provide input on Northeast Trail design and construction from the ABI team at a virtual community meeting on Thursday, July 27th at 6:30pm.
