Atlanta Beltline Enhances Trail Visibility with New Branded Crosswalks
- Parks & Trails

Beltline street crossings are getting a brighter, refreshed look!
As more people use the corridor to walk, bike, roll, and connect across the city, visible street crossings remain a key priority. To support safer conditions for motorists and everyone using the trail, crews have started installing branded crosswalks at intersections around the 22-mile loop.
Designed to be both functional and recognizable, the new crosswalks feature bold graphic striping and colors inspired by the Beltline’s refreshed visual identity. The result is a more clearly defined crossing that not only improves safety but also reinforces a consistent look and feel across miles of trail.
"It's a practical way to incorporate art into the daily experience of pedestrians, cyclists, and skaters, while also uniquely enhancing wayfinding for trail users and increasing visibility to drivers," said Claire Kern, a Senior Project Manager at the Beltline who oversaw the initiative.
Crosswalk artist Aysha Pennerman said she appreciated the freedom to reimagine the logo icons and pathways in a new way. Her goal was to make the crossings fun and engaging, while remaining purposeful for everyone using the path.
The crossings at Westminster Drive (Northeast Trail), Kirkwood Avenue (Southeast Trail), and on the Westside Trail at Joseph E Boone Boulevard, Mayson Turner Road, and Law Street are complete. Additional locations are planned at Marietta Boulevard, West Marietta Street, and Kennesaw Drive before the FIFA World CupTM.
Installation will continue across completed trail sections in the next few months and will be incorporated into future segments of the Beltline as they open.
“This is the first time for me to be able to see my work move beyond a mural painted on a wall or art in one intersection,” said Pennerman, who also created Terri’s Heart on the Southeast Trail in honor of her late aunt. “To actually see the art that I collaborated with be implemented across the full Beltline path is special. I'm really excited to experience it.”
By investing in safer, more visible crossings, the Beltline continues building a mobility network that is more accessible, welcoming, and easy to navigate for Atlantans and visitors alike.
