Northeast Trail

  • Northeast Trail - Segment 1: The trail officially opened with a groundbreaking on November 12th. Railing work continues, as well as landscape installation and final completion items. Trees Atlanta will begin planting by mid-February. The ongoing work at the 10th and Monroe intersection includes completion of the plaza, repair of damaged bollards, and final painting of the bike lane into the corridor.

  • Northeast Trail - Segment 3 and Connector Trails: This federally funded portion of trail includes the mainline trail of the Atlanta Beltline 22-mile loop, called Northeast Trail – Segment 3, as well as connector trails to the MARTA Lindberg station, PATH 400, and to the Armour-Ottley business district. The project is in the right-of-way acquisition phase, with most parcels closed in 2024. There are only three parcels remaining to close in February. We are on schedule to procure construction bids in mid-2025, to align with the federal funding fiscal year. This project has more than $42M in federal funding allocated to the project.

Southside Trail

  • Southside Trail Segments 2+3: This project, which extends 1.9 miles from west of I-75/85 to Boulevard has a targeted construction completion date of early 2026. Storm system installation has started adjacent to Pittsburgh Yards ®. The fiber relocation work is expected to be complete by mid-February to allow grading and storm water work to begin east of Pryor Road. When additional brownfield conditions were identified, mass grading was delayed for a period above D.H. Stanton Park due to the need to remediate the site. Storm line work is completed just west of Pryor Road. An H-pile wall is now complete near Pittsburg Yards ®. The rehabilitation of the bridge over Pryor Road is to start in early February. This project achieved the highest level of federal funding possible at 80% of the total construction budget.
