Your Beltline story could become part of American History
Parks & Trails
MAY 14, 2026
As the Atlanta Beltline celebrates its 20th anniversary, Atlantans are invited to share the stories, memories, and moments that have shaped one of the city’s most transformative projects.
The Atlanta Beltline is partnering with StoryCorps, the nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of everyday people, for a special community storytelling experience taking place May 18–20 along the Beltline.
As part of StoryCorps’ six-city Southeast tour, Atlanta will serve as the first stop. Traveling in a state-of-the-art mobile recording studio, StoryCorps will capture conversations from residents, trail users, families, entrepreneurs, artists, and community members whose experiences reflect the spirit and evolution of Atlanta. Participants can choose to have their interview preserved in the Library of Congress, creating a lasting archive of the voices that continue to shape our city.
For two decades, the Beltline has connected neighborhoods, created opportunity, inspired movement, and brought people together. Now, the people behind “The People’s Project” are being invited to tell their stories.
“The Beltline has always been about more than trails and transit. It’s about people,” said Clyde Higgs, President and CEO of Atlanta Beltline, Inc. “This partnership gives Atlantans an opportunity to preserve the stories, memories, and voices that define our city.”
Whether it’s memories of growing up in a Beltline neighborhood, building community along the trail, starting a business, finding connection, prioritizing wellness, or imagining Atlanta’s future, every story matters.

The Atlanta Beltline has always been powered by the voices, experiences, and dreams of the communities surrounding it. This partnership with StoryCorps is an opportunity to celebrate Atlanta’s rich culture, preserve community history, and create a living archive of the moments, memories, and connections that drive the Beltline’s past, present, and future.
Atlantans are encouraged to reserve their sessions early and be part of this historic storytelling experience!
