Art on the Atlanta Beltline: Up Close with ARRRTADDICT

ARRRTADDICT is a self-described artist, muralist, fashion designer and healer. A proud member of both the queer and Puerto Rican communities, ARRRTADDICT believes art is a healthy addiction that invites creativity and promotes healing. She describes her Taino series, including Somos Boricanos as a powerful representation of Puerto Rican cultural roots.

Artist Statement

Somos Boricanos is a part of ARRRTADDICT’S Taino series, which documents an all-female Taino tribe in La Isla De Borikén. It is up to us to make sure our real history is being told. “To be grounded in who we are today, we must first remember our roots.” This mural is dedicated to the artist’s grandmother, Carmen Maria Rodriguez. “I carry you in my heart forever – R.I.P.”

Somos Boricanos es parte de la serie Taino de ARRRTADDICT que documenta una tribu de mujeres taínos en La Isla De Borikén. Hoy más que nunca depende de nosotros asegurarnos de que se cuente nuestra verdadera historia. “Para estar arraigados en lo que somos hoy, primero debemos recordar nuestras raíces.” Este mural está dedicado a Mi abuela, Carmen María Rodríguez. “Te llevo en mi corazón para siempre – R.I.P.”

Artist Bio

ARRRTADDICT is a Puerto Rican artist from Ft. Lauderdale. She focuses on creating art that portrays the vibrancy of Puerto Rican and African American culture with loose lines, bold typography and bright colors. Her ARRRT exudes positivity while embracing culture, spirituality, healing and evoking the change our community needs to be unified and treated equally.
