SINUSOIDAL

Sal and Senya | 2015

SINUSOIDAL memorializes the railroad once running on the Beltline. It is a visual snippet of rhythmic bang heard by the wheels gliding across two uneven two rails. By extracting a millisecond clipping, the beat has been extruded and visualized as a three dimensional sculpture. Playing on the traditional use of rail-road materials, the artwork inverts the relationship between ties and rails. The wooden rails act as structured guides while the ties are made of brass ball chain suspended in catenary.
