This bench reflects Zmijewski’s interest in connections between communities, community members and the role the Beltline plays in linking neighborhoods. The linked bench system allows the artist to incorporate any designed number of links. Inspiration for the surface designs come from the reading of verses of the Tao Te Ching –a fundamental text of Taoism- that delve in the nature of our human existence.
