Ghost/Train II: In Memoriam Donald Wade Tilton

Wade Tilton | 2015

This piece is a mobile display of a life lived through a model train display. The model train is inside a wooden box (i.e. coffin) which is wheeled up the Beltline to it’s proper location by two ghostly railroad workers. Once in place, the workers will set everything up to working order. One of the workers will blow a railroad whistle to signal the readiness of the piece. The audience will come up to the box and look into peepholes (which are located all around the box). Each peephole will display a moment in Donald Wade Tilton’s life as recounted by his son’s memory and mythology of his father. A plaque detailing what is being seen through the peephole will be seen in proximity to the peephole. There will also be knobs to push in or pull out to make something happen in the scene that the audience is viewing.
