Tracking Quality of Life Impacts

As we build out the Atlanta Beltline, data plays an important role in our development decisions.

By tracking socioeconomic indicators and Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI) investments in each of the 10 Beltline subareas, we were able to identify four subareas that are particularly vulnerable to gentrification and displacement. These areas are known as our four Equity Priority Subareas.

The Equity Priority Subareas framework helps ABI ensure that historically underserved communities have equitable access to resources such as transportation, housing, economic development, job opportunities, and other community supports.

Demographic Data Explorer

This interactive map establishes historical baselines in race, income, employment, and housing tenure (e.g. renter/owner). These metrics help track project goal progress and flag demographic and economic trends that may require policy intervention.

Investment Data Explorer

This interactive map measures progress toward equity and inclusion in several areas: housing affordability, economic development, transit access, inclusion, and quality of life. The data comes from publicly available sources, as well as ABI surveys.

The Impact of the Explorer

While our data explorer is designed to inform the public and promote transparency and accountability, the data it’s built on also helps ABI see project impacts in each subarea.

Evaluating Performance

Explore the types of performance measures and indicators ABI uses to evaluate equity across subareas.
