Join Art on the BeltLine and Mausiki Scales and the Common Ground Collective as we celebrate the rhythms of the African Diaspora during the 10th iteration of ! This fun, free, funk-filled musical celebration at Westside Park will be held on June 15th, 2024, from 12 to 9 p.m.

Kick the day off at noon with music, games, face painting, and more! Pack your picnic basket with snacks and blankets and enjoy the entertainment with your friends and family on the Westside Park meadow. Unleash your creativity at a free Funky Fun Station with renowned artist Lillian Blades and make your own unique Mardi Gras/Junkanoo-style headpiece or create a traditional African caxixi drum for the parade. Then, join the Funk-line at 4 p.m. as Mausiki Scales and the Common Ground Collective, the Atlanta Junkanoo Band, and other performers take listeners on a quest through the vibrations of the African Diaspora.

Head back to the meadow at 5:30 p.m. to enjoy a soulful performance by Abike Music featuring Tosinger and Bayo BelloGroove. Then, from 7 to 9 p.m., groove along with the Mausiki Scales and The Common Ground Collective to the sounds of afrobeat, funk, hip hop, soul, and New Orleans jazz.

“It is our objective to erase the distance between the performer and community,” Masuiki says. Get ready to immerse yourself in this interactive cultural experience!
